Big Man James (ENG)

Big Man James is a blues-rock band based in Codogno, Italy. The lineup features Giacomo “Big Man James” Cassoni (vocals, guitar), Michele Zanoni (bass), Davide Bergamaschi (guitar), Alex Janev (drums) and Nicolò Moschera (organ, piano).

Their recordings began with the EP My Clouds (2017) and the full-length Another (2018), which received attention from music press. Between 2020 and 2022 they released the singles Be Yourself and White Flag, followed by the EP Step Into the Real Life (2022). In 2025 the band released ASH – All Souls Heal, a nine-track album (seven originals + two reworkings) that broadens their palette with warmer soul and funk elements while keeping the raw energy of their blues-rock roots.

Big Man James has played major festivals (including Malcesine Blues Festival and Blues Made in Italy) and supported artists such as Kyla Brox, Joanna Connor, Carvin Jones, Francesco Piu, Fabio Treves and Davide Van De Sfroos. In 2022 they were finalists in the International Blues Challenge – Italian Selection and performed in Romania at the Open Air Blues in the Garden Festival in Dărmănești. In January 2024 and June 2025, they embarked on a tour across the Czech Republic and Slovakia, playing at events such as the Folk Blues Beat Festival in Valašské Meziříčí, the Znojmo Jazz Festival, the Múzeum obchodu Bratislava, Café Anděl in Plzeň, and the Hranické slavnosti.

Big Man James è una band blues-rock originaria di Codogno (Lodi). La line-up comprende Giacomo “Big Man James” Cassoni (voce e chitarra), Michele Zanoni (basso), Davide Bergamaschi (chitarra), Alex Janev (batteria) e Nicolò Moschera (organo e piano).

La discografia della band inizia con l’EP My Clouds (2017) e il primo album di inediti Another (2018), recensito da importanti testate di settore. Tra il 2020 e il 2022 sono stati pubblicati i singoli Be Yourself e White Flag, seguiti dall’EP Step Into the Real Life (2022).

Nel 2025 è stato pubblicato l’album ASH – All Souls Heal, un lavoro di nove tracce (sette inedite + due rielaborazioni) che introduce sonorità più calde e influenze soul-funk, affiancando alla forza del blues-rock un songwriting più ricco e sfaccettato.

Big Man James ha calcato palchi di festival rilevanti (tra cui Malcesine Blues Festival, Blues Made in Italy, Festival Blues di Finale Ligure) e ha aperto concerti per artisti come Kyla Brox, Joanna Connor, Carvin Jones, Francesco Piu, Fabio Treves e Davide Van De Sfroos. Nel 2022 sono finalisti dell’International Blues Challenge – Italian Selection e suonano in Romania al Open Air Blues in the Garden Festival - Darmanesti, Nel gennaio 2024 e Giugno 2025 intraprendono un tour tra Repubblica Ceca e Slovacchia, dove suonano, al Folk Blues Beat Festival di Valašské Meziříč, Znojmo Jazz Festival, Múzeum obchodu Bratislava, Cafe Anděl di Plzeň, Hranické slavnosti.
